About the Program

What is user-generated content? (officially)

On-line content that is produced by users of Web sites, as opposed to traditional media producers such as broadcasters and production companies.  opencontent.wgbh.org/report/glossary.html

(Unofficially)

Your What Do You Know About Web 2.0? blog, the MPPL Favorites wiki, your delicious.com tags, etc...

Now let's wrap this up!

First

  1. Find an interesting image:  you can search Flickr, PhotobucketGoogle Image Search.
  2. Put your new 1 GB flashdrive into the USB port on the computer that you are using.
  3. Once you've made your selection, right click on the image to bring up a menu.
  4. Go to "Save picture as,"

  1. Click the drop down menu on the Save As dialog box to find the drive that's labeled "Removable Disk"

  1. Save the image to your flashdrive.
  2. You can rename the image before you save if you wish.

OR

You can shoot your own digital photo (with your own camera or with one of the library's cameras), and save the image to your new flashdrive.

Now, upload the image to MPPL's Flickr account.

  1. Once you have an image saved to your flashdrive, go to Flickr and sign in with the following:                   Yahoo! ID= eclassmppl@yahoo.com and password=the usual.
  2. Click on Upload Photos, which will take you to a page to Choose photos.
  3. Select your image in the dialog box and click Open.
  4. Be sure your photo is marked Public, and click Upload Photo.

  1. Click Add Description, this is where you will add a Title, Description, and Tags to the image you just uploaded.

Second

Now that you've been exposed to a number of web 2.0 sites/technologies, you are going to discover a new site (new to you) on your own.  The following are links to directories/lists/recommended Web.2.0 sites:

Go2Web20.net - The complete Web 2.0 sites directory

Ajax Projects Web2.0 Sites

SEOmoz's Web 2.0 Awards

Explore one or all of them and find a Web 2.0 site you've never heard of and you think may be useful personally or professionally.

Go back to the MPPLFavorites wiki, find the page Sharing new web 2.0 sites page and add the name and a link to your new discovery. To add a link:

  1. Highlight the name of the site, click on the  button and a dialog box will open
  2. For Link type, choose URL.
  3. Cut and paste the web address into the URL box (keep the http://.)

After you add your link to the page, please briefly describe what your discovered site is about. You should also post this web site on your blog, include the site, link and describe why you thought this site might be useful to you.

You are almost done!

Now that you've completed all of the Topics you have one last blog task.

Please summarize your experiences/discoveries/impressions/thoughts/frustrations about What Do You Know About Web 2.0?, any of the Topics, or Web 2.0 in general.

The End or is it?
